Nuts About Muts is all about offering positive and effective dog training to owners of any type or breed of dog who would like to resolve a particular issue with their dogs behaviour. Its is also a training method that can equip owners with the tools and understanding to continue training their dogs within their own home environment.

My name is Carmen Hyde and I have studied dog behaviour and communication for the last 10 years and have gained a Diploma in Advanced Canine Psychology. I am an Associate Member of the Animal Care College and a subscriber to the Association of Pet Dog Trainers (S525). I use only positive training techniques that will not frighten your dog but will actively make your dog want to listen to you. There is currently no definitive qualification for canine trainers. I only wish there were. Having said that I have learnt from some of the best dog trainers I know of (Thankyou Stella & Lynne) as well as – the dogs themselves.

The method is called clicker training which is reward based. I do not use or recommend any form of negative dog training equipment such as Shock Collars (as research has shown that these can actually elict aggression in some cases) I do not use Choke Chains or anything else that may cause fear or pain to your dog. The only equipment you need to start with is a flat collar, a lead and some yummy rewards. I supply the clicker, training factsheets and demonstrations for you to learn and utilise to be able to continue to train your dog. The methods are based on praise, reward's, setting boundaries and consistancy. After all, your dog is a member of your family and as such needs to be treated with respect and kindness to bring out the best in them.

I also make it my obligation to continue to learn and study in my chosen field so that you have the most up to date information and techniques available.

I provide puppy socialisation plans for you to follow which are tailor made as well as puppy and adult dog one-to-one training courses of 4-6 weeks obedience training for one hour a week. I also assist in a fantastic dog training class held in Lechlade that you can also attend with your dog, this will enable you to learn all of the skills in a class environment with other dogs and their owners and have some fun at the same time. Spaces are limited.
